    Town of the 100 churches. The extensive old Centre is the second in importance in Campania.
  • Naples ‐ Jan 25
    Naples is built on the spot where the only Sirene that didn’t turn to stone after Odysseus, but drown, washed ashore and was buried. Founded by the Greeks in the 8th century bc, still has the old street plan of 3 parallel main streets with 17 side streets where originally was the Greek Agora and the Roman Forum. Now it is the Via dei Tribunali. In 4th century bc Naples was forced into an ally of Rome. In 476 ad, the last west-Roman emperor, Romulus was kept prison by Odoaker in the Castle dell [...]
    ’Ovo in Naples. In 1039 it was the last area in South Italy to be conquered by the Normans. The same Normans also started in Naples, the county of Averso, in 1030. Santa Chiara, church and monestary from early 14th century Napoli Sotterranea; Greek and Roman tunnels and aquaduct system that was used for centuries.

    “Pearl of Sannio”. Middle-aged atmospheres in a tiny town. We can get here with an e-Bike journey from Caserta under the aquaduct.

    The royal palace of Charles de Bourbon, from 1752, with gardens on the UNESCO list, tried to compete with the French Versailles. The fountains in the gardens are fed with water by a Roman viaduct, aquedotto Caroline. There is also a silk museum in the Belvedere building.

    Old historical town at the coast with narrow streets. Cattedrale di San Matteo from 1079 with beautiful mosaics and a beautiful crypt. A middle-aged aquaduct. Castello di Arechi. Monumental complex of San Pietro a Corte; the only example of Lombard civilian architecture in Europe.
  • Melfi
    Very big castle of the Normans, from the times they were conquering south of Italy (around 1000). Fully renovated, with beautiful museum of archeological stuff.
  • Benevento
    Victory Arch of Trajanus, one of the prettiest in Italy. Roman theater. Largely renovated. Cathedral. Santa Sophia church from 8th century. Build by the Lombards; UNESCO heritage. Ponte Leproso, bridge from 3th century bc.
  • Capua
    Amfitheater (Spartacus) and gladiator museum.
