Matsumoto castle is one of the five castles designated as 'National treasures of Japan' and the oldest five-tiered six-story castle tower still remaining in Japan.

Former Kaichi school is a beautiful school built in 1876; for the people by the people. It was the first community school in the region. The ceilings of the old school are made of paper, the pillars from an abandoned temple, and the walls are made of mud and bamboo. Today it holds countries best collection of educational documents and historical materials.

Nakamachi street is known for its traditional storehouses; it's also a beautiful shopping street and it's landmark Kurassic-kan, a restored sake warehouse now open for public.
